General background
This is the website of Per-Ola Nilsson, authorized translator for English to Swedish, and a native Swedish speaker living in Karlskrona, Sweden. I have an MA in English, including a one-year course in translation from English to Swedish. I have worked as a translator since 1997.
Authorized translator
The title of authorized translator is a protected professional title. It can be used only by a translator who has passed a translation test organized by The Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency in Sweden. An authorized translator is bound by professional secrecy and is subject to a professional code of conduct. Only specific individuals may be authorized, not legal entities.

Federation of Authorized Translators in Sweden (FAT)
Membership is open to authorized translators (see above).
Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ)
Qualified membership is open to anyone who has worked as a translator for five years and can verify this with references from three different clients.
Translator’s Centre (ÖC)
Membership is open to qualified literary and non-fiction translators.
